In 1997, we had something of a role reversal when a referee was accused of man-handling a player.

Michael Gillett was a talented inside back or centre who played 153 games for Penrith, Balmain, Wests Tigers and London Broncos.

Paul McBlane referees 97 first grade games and one City-Country match. He died way too early, of a heart attack, in 2017.
