Sometimes it seemed like there should be a picture of the Perth Reds fullback next to the term 'enfant terrible' in the dictionary.

If you’ve read the book - and I’m guessing most of you have - you’ll know that the reason the late Peter Mulholland left Perth was that he said it was him or Julian O’Neill … and the club chose O’Neill.

‘Skull’ would therefore have taken grim satisfaction from the fact that O’Neill was in trouble just a few weeks into the 1997 season.
