September 11, 2022: Halifax book launch locked in
France and Tonga meet at The Shay on October 8. I'll have books with me.
I’m involved in a company called NovoSports, alongside Mark Croston, Jimmy Smith and Jason Harborow.
We are the promoters for the World Cup warm-up game between France and Tonga at Halifax’s The Shay on October 8, which is very exciting.
My original idea - after being in Ballsbridge, Dublin during a rugby union World Cup warm-up game - was to play all these matches in our sport at one venue and make an event of it.
We haven’t quite got there but beggars can’t be choosers. We’re off the mark.
Halifax is also one of 32 top flight clubs from 1997 and as such is a town I earmarked for a launch.
Both you birds, meet one stone. I’ll have a box of books with me.
ROOSTERS WINGED BY INJURIES AS CHARGERS HIT TOWN
Sydney Morning Herald, Friday, September 12 1997
By STEVE MASCORD
SYDNEY City will be without prop Jason Lowrie for the rest of the season and winger Jack Elsegood until grand final day at the earliest.
The Roosters received the grim news last night as they prepared for tonight's sudden-death major qualifying final against Gold Coast at Parramatta Stadium.
Lowrie had hoped to make his comeback from a broken arm off the bench tonight, while Elsegood was in the starting side on the wing and has been replaced by Robert Miles.
"Jason got some x-rays back today and they still show evidence of the fracture," coach Phil Gould said yesterday.
Gould said Elsegood, who has a groin problem, would definitely not play in the next two weeks.
The giant-killing Chargers arrived in Sydney yesterday and reported no likely changes to their starting side, with coach of the year Phil Economidis to finalise his bench at a team meeting this morning.
Teams for the match, which kicks off hit town at Parramatta Stadium at 7.30pm, are:
ROOSTERS: Andrew Walker; Robert Miles, Ivan Cleary, Brandon Pearson, Matt Sing; Brad Fittler (c), Adrian Lam; Nigel Gaffey, Luke Ricketson, Scott Gourley, Teny Hermansson, Simon Bonetti, David Barnhill. Res: Sean Garlick, Shane Rigon, Bryan Fletcher, Nathan Wood, Richie Allan, Peter Clarke, Scctt Logan.
