This is, as far as I can tell, a marriage of two concepts for independent content production that has never been tried before.

One is a book, my second, called Two Tribes. It tells the story of rugby league’s divided year in 1997 and the birth of the all-conquering National Rugby League in Australasia.

The book - the result of 50 interviews and more than a year of work (and still going) - is due for a mid-2021 release.

Two is Substack, the platform you are now staring at. It is intended to support independent writers and journalists by having them sell subscriptions to their work, bypassing big media brands and ads.

The way I am marrying them together is that for one US$45 payment, you get a copy of Two Tribes when it comes out, a copy of my first book Touchstones immediately and content right up until December 19, 2022 - the 25th anniversary of the formation of the NRL.

(Don’t worry, your 12-month subscription as mandated by Substack will be renewed for free when it expires).

I think that’s pretty good value. If you agree, please hit the button below!
